London Drugs will be offering free Operation Family Identification (OFIs) packages at various stores across Alberta during August and September.
What is Operation Family Identification? The Operation Family Identification program is designed to give parents a permanent record of their child’s photo, fingerprints, weight and height, in a convenient, readily accessible package that can be used in the event of an emergency. Operation Family Identification is a community project sponsored by London Drugs with the participation of community volunteers and law enforcement officials, and is at no charge to parents. London Drugs does not keep a copy of the package or any of the personal information collected.
I attended the London Drugs Operation Family Identification event at the London Drugs, South Edmonton Common location with my daughter this past Friday to check it out and share with you just how easy it is to create your own kit. Having this information on hand is one of those things that you will probably never use, but if you ever need it, it will save a lot of additional stress at a time that is beyond what you can imagine as devastating.
We started with filling out a form that includes your child’s information (age, address, doctor, etc). Then she was weighed, her height was verified and a photo was taken. When it was printed out, it was added to the form and erased from their camera. Then the fun began. My daughter had her fingerprints on both hands done as well as a partial palm print. Then she cleaned her hands, they completed her package and I walked away with a complete kit that I can put somewhere safe, and hopefully never use.
The below locations are still available to attend. There will be some fun activities for the whole family and you can pick up your complimentary OFI package (one for each child).
