This summer our family has made the decision not to travel. Other than a couple of weekend trips, our sunny summer days will be spent around the house and in our city.
Don’t get me wrong, there is still a lot to do and everyone in our family is looking forward to our activities this summer. To start, we have family visiting and we will be spending some quality time with grandparents. We are building a new deck, having a 20 year old tree cut down, and experiencing some sights around town.
Whether we are taking in some local attractions, or spending time around our neighbourhood, the easier snack time is, the better for everyone.
Today for example, we spent some time in the yard, but it was by no means a lazy day. For my husband and my father, it was building a deck. For my kids it was picking every last dandelion on our block. For my mother it was running after two kids with handfuls of dandelions and for me, it was cleaning the house and catching up on my work.
Being able to throw together a quick snack that is fun for my girls is always rewarding, so I turned to all of my snacks that are great ‘grab n’ go’ options on their own and combined them together to make a super snack fit for two hungry princesses.
I started off by grabbing all of my grab and go snacks and combining them in the mini waffle bowls pictured above then, adding the chocolate milk box, I was set. The treat was made in less than 3 minutes and it was appreciated by my two (some times picky) girls.
I love these snack options shown above because they are all great on their own, or combined together in to a special treat.
Below, I am walking my snack creation out to my girls and my mom. Today was a special treat as it was my daughter’s last day of school, so the celebration was on.
As for the excitement in the yard, below are our girls watching their new deck being built. They played in the yard, laid on the blanket and watched the clouds go buy as my husband and my father worked on the deck.
Then the fun really got started at the end when my youngest handed me her bowl and I gave it back to her and told her she could eat it.

This is such a cute idea for a snack on the go. I never thought to use those bowls that way before!
Thanks Cyn. They are such a big hit around here. Even great to fill them with fresh yogurt and fruit.
Very cool and tasty looking snack :-) I love the idea of using a waffle bowl for it
Thanks for sharing!
