“To you, from failing hands, we throw
The torch: be yours to hold it high”
In Flanders Fields is one of my favourite poems and it brings me to tears every time I read it. Every time.
My kids don’t fully understand why I am moved to such a display of emotion. At four and seven, they are still young so our conversations are age-appropriate (although I tend to go off on a passionate speech every now and then when I talk about our soldiers past and present and the sacrifices they made for our freedoms).

Here are a list of books that are great for various ages and discuss war, Remembrance Day, the significance of the poppy, and more. I was able to find all of these in my library but since not everyone that reads this post, lives in Edmonton, I will link to the title on Amazon so you can read more about each title.
