Today, Nickelodeon released Winx Club: Magical Adventure on DVD.
Nickelodeons Winx Club is a popular show that’s back with this fun movie. You actually get two DVD’s in this set. Disc One is the Magical Adventure which follows Bloom as she discovers what it’s like to live as a princess of Domino. Disc Two contains 7 bonus episodes from the fifth season of the hit TV series. Between the two, you get 3.5 hours of magical fun, which according to my 3 little reviewers, wasn’t long enough.
I haven’t had little girls, that liked girly things in a long time, so when I was given a “girly” movie to review, we entered new territory at our house. I’m used to trucks and tractors and Lego type shows, what in the world was I going to do with this type of movie?
Well, my trepidation was short-lived as the girls immediately fell in love with the picture on the cover and were excited that I finally had something “good” to watch. After many exclamations of, “this is going to be the best movie ever”, they happily settled in with some popcorn to watch “Winx Club: Magical Adventure”.
This was your classic story of good triumphing over evil, with lessons in working together to defeat a foe. The Winx and Specialists had to travel to another city to battle their foes to keep the positive magic from being destroyed. There was a tonne of adventure and action, and great animation. If your children enjoy watching fantasy type shows with fairies and witches, they will really enjoy this.
As an adult, the movie was cute and fun but 213 minutes was just too much for me. I’m not a super girly girl myself, so that was a whole lot of fairy and princess action for me to sit through. It is watchable though, but I don’t see many adults sitting down for a second viewing.
My girls on the other hand will not stop talking about the horse that turned into a unicorn and the awesome island where they went to battle. They’ve already asked to watch it again, and I’m confident that this movie will go on their shelf of favourites.
Winx Club: Magical Adventure is now available both online and in-store across Canada where DVDs are sold.
