The Secret of Kells DVD Review

Just recently released on DVD and Blu-Ray on October 5, The Secret of Kells is an animated feature film that is gaining recognition from critics and viewers alike.

Celtic mythology is brought to life in this story about a young boy who overcomes his fears and ventures out in to an unknown place. When a master illuminator arrives with a book filled with wisdom and magical powers, Brendan sets off to help him gather what he needs in order to complete it. In an enchanted forest, Brendan meets Aisling, a mysterious girl who helps him out.

The movie is filled with wonderful illustration that I sometimes think is lost these days in movies. I am also a big fan of the music and singing during the story and my favorite song is sung by Aisling while she is helping Brendan to escape a prison he was put into.

This DVD is also filled with more than an hour of special bonus features including an audio commentary and a presentation of pre-production sketches and inspirational images.

The movie is approximately 75 minutes in length and the DVD is available for purchase at Amazon.ca for $19.99. It is also available at Amazon.com for $21.49.

* I received the DVD for free to complete my review. The opinions expressed in this post are mine only and are in no way influenced by any outside factors.
