Teamwork and Toddlers

Yesterday morning as we were all getting up and heading downstairs to start our day, I asked my daughter if I could hold her tissue box for her while she walked down the stairs so she wouldn’t fall.

She held it out and said I could take one side of it and she would hold the other. Then as we walked downstairs together with Papa Bird following behind. She said in a ‘matter-of-fact’ tone, “I’m doing teamwork”.

For those of you that don’t know, our daughter is two and a half years old and apparently WAY beyond her years in development (yes, I am fully aware that I am a completely biased and very proud parent).

Our daughter is in daycare and they have been learning about ‘Teamwork’ lately. They have learned that teamwork happens when you work with one or more people to complete a task.

There are a few adults I know that can’t even get that right. Way to go toddlers!
