Putting ‘Busy’ On Hold #FP_Thomas

If left unchecked, life can become a series of work, events, extra-curricular activities, appointments and responsibilities and it is so easy to fall down the ‘busy’ rabbit hole.

I write this post not as an expert, but as someone who often finds herself being sucked into ‘busy’ all too easily. Don’t get me wrong, there is a time and place for ‘busy’, and I rock ‘busy’ like a star, but there are also many times when it is time to turn off ‘busy’ and get back to relaxed family time.

After a busy week, we hit Fort Edmonton Park where there was something for everyone… including a carousel.

When we want to reconnect, we explore. Our girls love information. They enjoy learning new things and hearing about historical events and the world around them. Watching our kids learn and discover new things while sharing experiences that we know they will love is what connects us and recharges our engines. We remember why we work hard, and we are reminded that we need to take the time to nurture our relationship as a family.

Connecting with nature while reconnecting with each other is always a lot of fun.

On one of our trips this summer, we made it out to Fort Edmonton Park. Our youngest really loves trains right now, so we made sure to ride the old fashioned steam train into Fort Edmonton to explore. When she saw the train come around the corner she was awestruck and it was the perfect start to our family time.

Tying into our train theme for the day was Thomas & Friends. Our youngest daughter began her love of trains while watching Thomas, now whenever she hears a train, she gets excited and immediately looks around for it.

Sharing Thomas & Friends is a great way to relax together and learn as well. When the girls get some TV time, Thomas & Friends is a great option as it isn’t fast-paced and the characters are relatable and each have their own characters that teach kids important values.

Some Thomas & Friends items for play time with your kids:

  • King of the Railway DVD: The steam team’s quest begins when a special guest arrives on Sodor with a big surprise and important jobs for Thomas, Percy and James. The engines meet new friends and discover suits of armour; coats of arms and legends of long-ago heroes. Then their bravery is put to the test when their new friend Stephen goes missing. Released: September 24
  • Thomas & FriendsTM Take-n-PlayTM Thomas’ Adventure Castle Playset: Take-n-Play is all about portable playsets for on the go play. 3Y+
  • Thomas & FriendsTM TrackmasterTM Castle Quest Set: Trackmaster track sets feature motorized engines that power themselves around the track. Requires 1 AA battery. Ages 3+
