Pull-Ups Potty Dance Blog Tour

Baby Bird has a milestone that is creeping up on us.

Potty Training.

I’ve slowly been preparing myself and our family for this one. I’ve been googling, chatting with family and our daycare and having pre-milestone conversations with Baby Bird and Papa Bird. We still have a few months to go, but I’m pretty excited about it.

Is it weird that I am excited? I know it’s going to be stressful on her and us, but I am looking forward to it. I know this milestone will bring defiance and tears (her defiance, probably my tears), but in the end it will be yet another step in her life that I was a part of. Helping her through these milestones brings me closer to her as her parent and helps me to realize everything that my mom (and dad) went through while raising me.

Sappiness aside and excited or not – I still need all of the help I can get on this!

Pullups LogoTo help make this transition easy on children and parents, Pull-Ups has created a number of starting out articles. They tackle situations at home, daycare and even while traveling.

They’ve even created a Potty Dance complete with steps and music to help turn potty training into something that is fun to learn.

As you know, Baby Bird loves to dance so I think incorporating this potty dance as a part of her potty training experience will help to make her more comfortable while learning this new skill. Both Jessica Holmes and Traci Melchor show how the dance is done on YouTube.

So help me out here. Do you have any tips that made potty training a breeze? How old was your child(ren) when you started on potty training? First time mom here… help!

    Hi Sheri,

I enjoyed reading your post. I'm a fellow Mom Central mom blogger and just published my post for this blog tour here. I'm glad I came across your site. Love your blog! And good luck with the potty training!

Thanks Steph – I hope that it is true to for my sake that girls train quicker. I only expect that I will probably look back and think "Why on earth was I looking forward to this?" Then once it's all said and done I'm sure I'll be laughing about everything – I hope.

I wish you all the best and hope she trains quickly for you :) I unfortunately cannot offer advice since I am still trying to potty train my first child and have been for the past year (he is perhaps the most stubborn child in the universe!). The only thing I can offer is to remember to have patience and to not have ANY expectation of a time frame that it will take after you start. I have heard from a lot of friends that girls will train faster then boys most of the time, so I hope that is true for you.

Thanks for the info. I think though that every child develops at their own pace regardless of the type of diaper. Friends of our just potty trained their 20 month old using disposables.

The cloth trainers do ease up on the landfills though!

What age did you potty train your child at?

    Thanks for the info :)

Potty training is much easier if you use cloth trainers. Every child I know of that has been trained with cloth has trained far faster/easier than a child with disposables.

You also get to stop throwing out garbage & reduce the amount of untreated sewage in our landfills! :)
