Those of you who know me, know that I am a fan of retro. I realized today that I’ve lived long enough to consider myself retro since I originally experienced many of these ‘blasts from the past’ first hand now.
Case in point — the new Outrageous Neons from OPI. I remember when the rainbow of neon colours was a big deal… the first time around. I had neon shirts, pens, hair ties, barrets, bracelets and even socks.
Now the bright colours are back in nail lacquers from OPI. This fun set carries one white base coat, four bright neon shades in Ridiculously Yellow, Formidably Orange, Riotously Pink and Seriously Purple, and a clear top coat.
The white base coat is an absolute necessity to getting the final neon look as it adds a level of brightness that can’t be achieved by just putting the coloured lacquers on without it. My only wish for this set was that the white base coat came in a full size because there are four small sizes, so I will be running out of the white base coat before I run out of all of the coloured lacquer. This isn’t a big minus for me because I’m sure I can just use one of my bright white lacquers, although I haven’t tried it yet. Or I could probably kick it real old school and put ‘white out’ on my nails. Just kidding on the last statement. Don’t try that at home.
This pack is available (since July 2012) at select professional salons and spas for a suggested retail price of $24.95, so call and ask around abut them if you are interested.
