My Baby First Steps – Wii Review & Giveaway (Closed)

Baby First Steps CoverMy Baby First Steps* is a sequel to the original ‘My Baby Boy/Girl’ and is available on Wii and Nintendo DS. This game is a continuation of the first and you begin with an infant who is 15 months old and raise them to the 30-month mark. You can choose the gender and ethnicity, or ask to be surprised and you can choose to be the mother or father. You enter in your name and the name of your beautiful baby, then you get started.

While you go through the game, you have visits with both a pediatric nurse and a pediatrician who give you advice and tips on how to handle your new baby. Some of the tips and tricks are a little tough to master at first, but as you keep trying it gets easier (much like parenting for the first time!).

You will first learn tasks like playing with your infant, changing diapers, feeding, etc and you will be given some developmental lessons that you need to accomplish with your infant such as teaching them to walk.

As you go on, you can then buy some new clothes for your baby and give them a style all of their own. You can also change their hairstyle and buy them toys.

I had to laugh at myself when I first played this. As the game itself says, it is not an educational toy on how to handle a real baby, but I found myself having some of the same feelings that I did when I first had my daughter. Near the beginning of the game my game-baby began to look concerned and I panicked and thought “Oh no, what does she want?” I remember that feeling early on as a real-mom when Baby Bird had started crying and I couldn’t figure out why for a bit. I had to laugh at myself!

This game was a lot of fun to play and explore and if you listen and follow the instructions, you should have no problem being able to complete it. I like that it is also a game that I can play with a child as most of the games are more adult-oriented. My Baby First Steps is available on Nintendo DS and Wii and can be bought anywhere those games are sold. You can also buy it online at either Amazon.ca or .com for approximately $30.

You can get in on the fun here too and try out your hand at being a virtual mom or dad with a couple of online games. You can play the games at this link.

I also have a copy of the My Baby First Steps on Wii as a giveaway for one lucky This Bird’s Day reader…
