That is what I think about when I am tasked with choosing a ‘moment of joy’.
I remember one specific night when my oldest was about 2 months old. Both my husband and I were taking turns feeding our daughter through the night and she was up that night every hour and a half or so. We were so tired that we had to write the time, our name and what she drank on a piece of paper so we could remember who’s turn it was next.
I must have hit my limit that night because when we heard our daughter crying, I know I heard her. The next thing I knew, I was sitting in our bed rocking her back and forth, and my husband got up out of bed to go to get her from the room next door for a feeding. As he left the room, I said “It’s okay, I’ve got her” and I kept rocking. My husband turned around, looked at me, then quietly turned on the light and left the room. I looked down and, cradled in my arms and looking at me seriously confused, was my cat.

Even as I type this, I am remembering back to 12 hours ago in the middle of the night when my youngest woke up for the third time for something to drink and my oldest woke up once because she thought it was morning (she was off by 4 hours), and I just want to cuddle up in a ball and take a nap.
Who’s with me?
