I get to post today about some of my favorite things; chocolate and Free Product Coupons. I am a Life Made Delicious Connector and I get to share a few new things with you in this post.
Life Made Delicious will be launching Chocolate Cheerios, a new Cheerios line here in Canada on June 3 and our family received a couple of boxes ahead of time to try out. The new cereal is naturally flavoured with real cocoa, is a good source of fibre, is still low in fat and contains 9 grams of sugar per serving.
If you are like me, the first thing that comes to mind is serving kids chocolate at breakfast. Honestly, it is the first thing that came to my mind and being the
overprotective caring mother that I am, I promptly pulled out our other Cheerios boxes (yes, we have them all) and checked the nutritional values against each other.
And just so you have confirmation that I am completely
nuts thorough, I have included my comparison here.
Note, if you click on the picture, then click on the picture that opens up, you will get a larger image (and I think you can click to zoom in to full size from there).
Since the Nutritional Value on the regular Cheerios was based on 1 cup, I made a couple of calculations to better compare some parts with the other two cereals at 3/4 cup per serving. From left to right, I compared Cheerios, Banana Nut Cheerios and the new Chocolate Cheerios. There are some small differences, but not a lot. The regular Cheerios have less calories, but surprisingly all three have about the same amount of Sodium and Fat (which is still not a lot). Moving down in to the Vitamins and Minerals, the differences are minimal so it really depends on if you are trying to get more of a certain nutrient in your diet.
So ‘responsible mom speak’ aside, I love the new Chocolate Cheerios. The added cocoa makes it taste more like chocolate and less like sugar (if that makes any sense to you). Little Bird likes them, but her favorite to eat are still the new Banana Nut Cheerios. She also likes snacks where all three Cheerios are combined together — hmmmm…. do I see a future Chocolate Banana Nut Cheerios product line coming?
Life Made Delicious is also adding a Free Product Coupon (FPC) on websaver.ca. So you can visit websaver.ca to get your FPC to try out a box of their new Chocolate Cheerios. There are some guidelines around using this coupon, but if you remember to follow them, you get a free box of cereal. It will be available to request from WebSaver until May 1 only, and the coupon can only be redeemed on June 21, 2011, so mark your calendars for both dates to remind yourself.
And as always, make sure you drop by Life Made Delicious to check out their easy recipes, I bet some Chocolate Cheerios recipes will be popping up soon.
I have one last bit of news for any readers who are also on Twitter. Life Made Delicious will be launching their own Twitter account on May 1 so make sure you stop by and welcome them on Sunday. They have the account open now so you can check them out at @LifeMadeDelish, but will begin tweeting officially on Sunday.
