LEGO DUPLO Gifting Challenge #LEGODUPLOPlay

Way before I had children of my own, I don’t think I really thought about everything I needed to teach them. The fact that they need to learn everything, because they come out knowing nothing, was something I just hadn’t considered in it’s entirety.

I do remember thinking that I really needed to take control of the reigns and teach our girls how to dance before my husband got a hold of them (trust me, his moves only work on me). Other than that, everything else was a little too deep for me.

But now it is here, and I love it. I get the chance to share with them all of the good, cool, awesome stuff in my head and I get to share the many mistakes I made in the hopes that they will take in my life lessons and not repeat my historical failures.

Lately, we have been teaching our oldest a lot about being thankful and charitable.

This summer, we grew extra vegetables in our garden. We shared them with friends and family and at the end of our season, we washed our potatoes and carrots and took them in to The Edmonton Food Bank along with some other food items.

This year I also found out about the World Vision catalogue where you can order items for families in need such as fruit trees, animals, or school supplies to name a few. I am really excited to set aside some time as a family and go through the catalgoue together. Our youngest is too small to make any choices, but our oldest is going to give her thoughts on where some of our funds are going to go. I also found out that a fellow LEGO DUPLO Play Agent, Sarah at Nurse Loves Farmer is also doing this, so stop by and have a read about it on her site.

In talking about ways we teach our kids about giving back, the LEGO DUPLO Play Agents also get to offer one of their lucky readers some of this years hottest toys in a giveaway just before Christmas.

One lucky This Bird’s Day reader will win FOUR of the eight LEGO DUPLO toys pictured below for their kids, or to give away.
