There are few sounds that, when heard, can instantly transport me to my childhood. At the top of my list of those familiar sounds is the sound of LEGO DUPLO as it is poured out of a box or container. The sound of the pieces hitting each other is unmistakeable and as I hear it, memories of playing for hours with our old LEGO comes to mind. Of course, back in my day (insert age joke here), we only had LEGO pieces and the flat bases of cars to work with. Now there are a lot of other items that are included to make play time even more fun.
LEGO DUPLO has teamed up with Today’s Parent to bring you an exciting challenge that you can do with your kids. Starting today, until April 10 2012, Canadian moms across the country can participate in the daily play challenges found on the Today’s Parent website. Each weekday during this time, a new way to play will be posted. In addition, you will also be able to submit your own ‘play challenge’ for a chance to win a trip for four to LEGOLAND Parks in either Florida or California and to have your idea featured in the play challenge calendar. They have reserved the last five play days for the best of our ideas.
About LEGO DUPLO
LEGO DUPLO are twice the size of standard LEGO pieces and this makes them perfect for children from ages 1 ½ to 5 years old. They are fantastic for imaginative play, nurturing creativity, building fine motor skills, social development, team work, counting, stacking, and discovering shapes and colours. My daughter loves to sort, so the various colours makes it fun for her to put them in groups.
Tonight, February 27 at 8:30 EST there will be a Twitter party to get everything started. The Twitter chatter will cover everything from play ideas to opening up your child’s imagination and you have a chance to win one of six LEGO® DUPLO® gift packs valued at approximately $150 each! Just in time to get your ‘play’ on.
So, pull out your LEGO DUPLO, check out the Today’s Parent LEGO DUPLO play calendar every weekday and join me in the 30 Days of Play Challenge.
I dare ya.
