Katy Perry Prismatic Concert Tour in Edmonton

At the end of last month, I ran one of my favourite contests yet when COVERGIRL contacted me to, not only attend and meet Katy Perry, but to also give away two sets of two tickets to readers for the same once in a lifetime opportuity. I had to read the email twice, out loud, slowly to make sure I wasn’t mistaken.

Fans of Katy Perry and/or COVERGIRL know that Katy has her own line of COVERGIRL makeup. The #instaGLAM collection boasts beautiful, bright colours just as vibrant as iconic singer herself. Products in the collection include foundation, concealer, lipgloss, nail gel, and a two-step mascara that I use all of the time.

Then the big night came.

Drawing and notifying my winners was one of the highlights of my week, and meeting them at the concert was another. We arrived at the concert and met up with our fabulous COVERGIRL team who gave us the information we needed, then we wandered around for a bit and headed backstage.

The Prismatic Lounge was so much fun. Chairs that lit up and turned different colours, the walls sparkled, there was a photo area, and I can’t forget the candy station.

Now I have to share, because things don’t always go smoothly for me and I am slightly accident-prone when I get nervous. I loaded up on some candy for both of my girls because they love Katy Perry, and they love candy, so this is pretty much the best thing on earth for them. As we were standing in line waiting for Katy to walk in, my bag of candy split open and dropped to the ground. It was awesome. I froze (now I know where my daughter’s get their ability to freeze with a stunned look on their face), and my friend, Sarah stepped in and cleared the area for me (THANK YOU).With Katy Perry at the Prismatic World Tour in Edmonton

Then she walked into the room and everything fell silent for a second. There were whispered gasps of excitement, then the room seemed to fill back up with voices and bustle. We were lined up to meet her and take a photo. She talked to each of us as we approached and she asked us our name. I told her that I was saying hello for my daughters who couldn’t be at the concert and she made a point of saying hi and their names back to me.

See that there. She looked at me ;)

After the photos were done, we went back up to our seats and got ready for one of the best shows I’ve seen yet. The show started just after 9:00 to a cheering crowd with Katy’s hit song Roar and I was immediately sucked into the Prismatic Tour. All of my favourite songs were sung and the lights, costumes, theatrics, and stage were incredible.

For those that stayed until the encore, the last two songs were a lot of fun. During the song ‘Birthday‘ one lucky girl from the audience was pulled up on stage and treated to a better-than-front-row experience when she became part of the act.

Then the final song when we all put on our Prismatic glasses. Similar to 3D glasses, but WAY better, the glasses lit up the room and any small light was magnified with beautiful colours. Katy performed ‘Firework’, my favourite song of hers. The lights and fireworks went off and the glasses lit up the arena like nothing I’ve ever seen before.

It was the perfect end to an unforgettable concert.
