*I need to add a note to the beginning of this post because we have some very loving and excited family members that drop in to read what we are up to from time to time. Please read the entire post before running out to buy gender-specific items.
There are so many things to look forward to during the life of a pregnancy. The positive test, the first ultrasound, the first heartbeat heard, the 20-week ultrasound where you can possibly learn the gender and so on.
20 weeks seems like such a long time though if you are someone who wants to know the gender of a baby. We want to know and we are still 5 weeks away from that ultrasound, and that is only ‘if’ the baby is in a cooperative position and the technician can see the goods.
IntelliGender is cutting the wait time in half with a new, easy to take, urine test. The test is 82% accurate, so while it isn’t as accurate as a technician performing a second trimester ultrasound, it is still a fun test to take to pass the time while you wait for confirmation.
I recommend not going out and buying the decorations for your baby room and all clothes though based on this test as there is still an 18% error window.
Taking the test is as easy as a pregnancy test. In short, pee in a cup. Then using a syringe from the package, take some of the urine and inject it into a second cup. Seal the second cup and swirl it around for 10 seconds and set it on a flat, white surface. At 5 minutes, read your results. Please do read and follow the exact instructions included to get the best results though.
If the urine turns a green to a dark, smoky green, then it is a ‘boy’ result. If it remains unchanged or turns a deeper yellow to orange, then it is a ‘girl’ result. There is also a band on the cup that you can match up your urine colour with to be sure.
I took the test and whether my results are accurate or not, we had a lot of fun finding out. We’ve been guessing the gender since we found out and it is more of a fun thing to pass the time as we are thrilled to have either gender and just want a healthy baby.
I bet you guys are all just dying to find out what we are having…
Our test came back as BOY!
Even though the results came back as such, Papa Bird still thinks its going to be a girl. I have no clue. We are waiting until our next ultrasound at the end of January for confirmation (fingers crossed), so I will make sure to post an update here to tell you if it was accurate for us.
If you are pregnant and can’t wait, or are looking for a fun way to pass the time, I suggest getting this and trying it out. Or if you know someone who is pregnant and is complaining that they have to wait 10 more weeks to find out, get this test for them so they can see ahead of time.
The Gender Test sells on the IntelliGender website for $34.95US. You can also check out their other products that are great for mom and baby while you are there.
Please note, the test is not recommended if you have PCOS (Poly-cystic Ovarian Syndrome) or are taking progesterone supplements.
