Holiday Must Have: Kodak EasyShare Touch Camera #Giveaway

This year, our holidays are going to be spent with our extended family. We live 14 hours away from them and we are flying home to spend the holidays with both sides of our family. We will also be having our new daughter’s baptism during our visit back home. Everyone around here is so excited.

Our holidays back home are always filled with family, friends, old traditions, new memories and a lot of laughs. If I could only take one item back home with me, it would be a camera. Capturing those ‘had to be there’ moments on video or photo is so important for so many reasons.

I have been trying out the KODAK EasyShare Touch camera for the past week, and I am in love. In a nutshell, it is made by KODAK, it is EASY to use, it has amazing SHARE capabilities through social networks and the features are accessed through a TOUCH screen. Thus the name.

I want to start with my favorite feature; its share capabilities through social networks and email. There is an application that you can load and configure when the camera is attached to your computer and you can set up your preferences and accounts. Once it is set up, sharing your photos and videos as you take is then done with the touch of a button on the camera and it supports social options such as email, Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, Youtube, Orkut and a few more. There is also a tagging feature right on the camera that will transfer the tagged information right into your Facebook account.

I can’t wait to get back home, take a picture and have someone say “Can you email me that one?”, only to have me reply “Sure, what is your email address, I’ll set it up to send it to you right now and you’ll get it when I load them on the computer.” Then, the next time I load my pictures to our computer, not only will it load all of my images and videos in to my library, it will also perform all of the tasks assigned to each image.

Another reason that I absolutely adore this feature is because I have always wanted to have a Flickr account, and also upload more photos to my Facebook and Twitter accounts. Our main computer is located in the basement, so I used to have to wait until I got the time to head downstairs to load all of my photos, then I never had the time to further share them on all of my networks. Now, I can head out for a day with our girls, take photos, and when we get home and they are sleeping in the backseat, I can go through my favorites and assign them to my various social networks and email them to family. Then the next time we load our pictures, they get added and emailed on their own. If I could request one additional place to ‘share’ the photos, it would be to WordPress. That would really make things easy for me.

The camera has different film effects such as Kodacolor, Ektachrome, Kodachrome, a couple of black & white options and sepia. My favorite effect is the Ektachrome which gives an amazing bright finish as you can see in the photo below.

There are also a number of scene modes that allow you to select the best setting, there are a total of 18 different exposure options such as Backlight, Night Portrait, Children, Panorama, Landscape and more. I took this picture using the Blur Reduction setting and it worked out really well on the wings of the bird.

Another favorite feature for me is the Touch Screen capabilities. Instead of loading the camera up with buttons that take up a lot of space, the EasyShare Touch is mostly used by touching the screen itself. With a tap on the screen, you can change the settings, delete photos, add them to your social networks, take photos and more. By adding these features right in to the screen and not on the side, there is more room for a larger screen.

Interested in knowing more about this camera? Make sure you check out all of the features on the Kodak website. The KODAK EasyShare Touch is available for purchase online or in store for approximately $170 CAD and comes in silver, blue, pink and red.

For all of the above features, KODAK and the EasyShare Touch makes my very first day of my 12 Days of Christmas list.

One lucky This Bird’s Day reader will win a EasyShare Touch from KODAK ($170 CAD ARV).

As I’ve grown older [okay okay it’s only happened in the last few years sinc emy niece and nephews were born] I’ve become very ….irritating to my family.. needing to capture every moment with them.. my niece is 4, nephew is 5 newest nephew is 3 months… time flies, it really does.. very depressing though… but than i remind myself that I have all these photos of the kids and i can embarrass them later on “Oh so-and-so you’re going to marry my nephew… well I have these pictures of him running around the house naked with his stuffed bear at christmas when he was 3” lmao… ah good times!

The photo/video moments most important to me during the holidays are those precious gatherings of family & friends: makeshift Thanksgiving dinners with friends, Hanukkah parties with family, and NYE socials. It’s amazing to measure how much older my little brothers look each year; how many more wrinkles my grandparents earn; how couples still gaze at one another with love and admiration!

Every year for the past 9 years, we have taken a “sisters” group shot together on Christmas Eve. We’re all “not young” any longer, but love to take our annual photo. We compare it year to year to track the changes we don’t see in ourselves. A group shot of 7 sisters always makes for a funny picture!!

Our first child has gone off to University here on the West Coast and we will be moving 1/2 way across the country by the end of the school year. My second son will head off to University next Sept. and than we only will have one left at home. Every picture we take will be precious, especially the ones of the boys and us together.

Capturing the kids is the best! not just for holidays but any day!

  • SuperMel Nov 1, 2011, 1:08 pm

Anyone that is a parent knows how priceless a picture can be! We lost so many pictures when our computer crashed, and love the fact that you can upload these directly to social medias from the camera so you eliminate that fear!

Ooops, I am doing this backwards as I already posted all of the other entries but during the holidays I am all about capturing the looks on everyone’s faces when they are opening gifts on Christmas morning. I also do a ton of candid shots throughout the holidays, just for fun. :)

I LOVE taking family photos of all 5 of us. As the kids (17,11 &6) are growing so fast, they will be out of the house in no time. I want to capture as many pictures as I can, while we are all ~TOGETHER~!

I love to take photos of family and friends, especially the elder generation as they are often overlooked in favour of the kids. i look back fondly at photos of my parents in my younger years and wish I had taken even more photos at the time as now they are gone. This year my sister (my kids’ only auntie) is coming to stay, so lots of pictures are in the works!

I LOVE capturing little moments where my 6 year old twins teach thier 13m old brother how to do things. They are such wonderful teachers. I am looking forward to them teaching him about x-mas/family and of course showing him the pile of gifts santa leaves! They just get sooo excited for him!

Most important to me are the photos of the kids all in their Christmas pajamas on Christmas eve. That was my favourite part of Christmas growing up, so I enjoy watching my own children experience it.

  • Ruth-Ann S Nov 1, 2011, 11:15 am

I love all the photo ops at Christmas (so many) – the tree and decorations, the nativity set, family opening or showing off gifts (especially candids!), and of course the food. Selected ones always end up in next year’s calendar.
