There are so many small things you can do during your day to make the world around you a little better. Something as little as a smile can change the course of someone’s day, even your own.
Then there are other actions that can make the world you occupy a little prettier. I spent the weekend working with our oldest (3 years old) in the yard. We picked a few boxes of tomatoes in case we get an early frost. Then we went on a walk around the yard and noticed how the leaves on different plants were different shapes and colours, and how they are changing colours because of the new season. We picked some leaves and made leaf prints on paper with paint.
When we go on a walk to our neighborhood park, we pick up litter we find along the way. Little Bird points out any trash she finds, and we pick it up and put it in a bag until we get to one of the many trash cans around our neighborhood.
These are all small things that our family does. And can you imagine if enough people did these things. People would be smiling, growing their own vegetables and sharing (food banks would be overflowing), and there would be no trash on our streets.
Energizer has donated $100,000 to Evergreen this year to make cities more liveable and they are asking everyone to help them in making a difference. When you sign up and pledge to do five kind acts to make a difference, Energizer will donate another $1 each time (to a total of $10,000) to Evergreen.
I signed up and made a pledge with Energizer on their site and the whole process took about one minute. One minute of your time gives Evergreen another $1 to make our world beautiful. And just in case you don’t know, Evergreen is a not-for-profit organization that works hard to create more liveable cities and communities for everyone. My kind acts included telling my kids I love them, smiling to a stranger on an elevator, cleaning up trash from our local playground, donating clothes to a charity and letting a car merge in front of me.
What are yours?
Don’t leave them hanging; make sure you sign up and take the pledge at the Now That’s Positive Energy website.
