Dum-dum-da-dum!

I’m getting really excited and I just realized that I haven’t shared the great wonderful fantastic news with everyone here yet.

My sister is getting married and we’re going to Las Vegas. In October my sister and brother-in-law (who is more like a brother anyway) are getting hitched in Sin City.

Our whole family is preparing to head down and I am looking forward to showing Baby Bird the sites. So for those of you who haven’t been there before, there is a lot you can do with kids during the day and even more you can do in the evening while grandma and grandpa are babysitting ;)

The last time I was in Vegas was in 2000, I can’t believe it’s been that long. Shortly after that I met the man of my dreams, moved to another city and had a gorgeous little girl. Time does fly when you’re having fun.

Speaking of which, I bet it’s going to fly when we are in Vegas too. I will post about as much as I can while down there. So if you are planning a trip, or a little destination wedding of your own, stay tuned. For now, here are a couple of pictures – just because I love putting pictures in my posts!

Groom-to-be, Me, Bride-to-be and Papa Bird at the Paradiso in FargoThis was taken last year. We visited our family in Winnipeg and drove down to Fargo for a few days of fun. Left to right are the groom-to-be, me, the bride-to-be and Papa Bird. This was  just before dinner at the Paradiso. If you are ever in Fargo and you love Mexican cuisine, eat there. The food is delicious.

My Sister with Baby BirdHere’s my sister and Baby Bird hanging out at our old house during a visit. If you look closely, you can see her beautiful engagement ring.

So yes, I am getting excited, but lately I have been concentrating on Baby Bird’s second birthday. Now that we are done those celebrations, it’s time to start planning our trip down south. Vegas, here we come!

Have you been before? What would you recommend in Vegas while there?

Hey, we are really looking forward to Nancy’s & Mark’s wedding, and especially in Vegas….our favorite spot. We will all make it a memorable event for them.

    Love Mom & Dad

Congrats to your sister. Wedding are a lot of work and I imagine that going to Vegas would take a lot of the stress out of it.

I too have never made it to Vegas yet but I am looking forward for the things to do with kids while there.

I think a destination wedding does take certain stresses away, but probably adds others (lol).

My brother and sister-in-law got hitched in Vegas in February. Wish I could have been there to have seen it, but the flights were just too expensive to go.

As for your pictures, I laugh, because the one with Paradiso, I was all like “hey that looks just like the restaurant in Fargo that we pass all the time on I-29”, only to keep reading and find out, “hey that is the restaurant in Fargo we pass all the time on I-29”!

We’re actually going there next week, as we meet up with my Mom and sister who live in Winnipeg!

If you get a chance, check out the Paradiso. Very good food and big portions too. We had enough for our meal and took some back to the hotel afterwards.

Where do you stay in Fargo? Last time we stayed at the Holiday Inn, our daughter loved it because they have a pirate ship with water slides in the pool area.

I got married in Vegas in 2004, and it’s a fun place to do it. We did it similarly, we didn’t elope, we invited our family and partied it up while we were there. Rented one of those super duper long suv’s and drove around the strip, went shopping at the outlet mall, stuff like that. I think Vegas is really family friendly, there is so much to do there!! Takes a bit of creativity though, since they don’t advertise the family side much online. While we were there we saw so much cool family stuff to do!! I love the lemonade stands on the street corners, and how everyone just wanders around. One thing I hated was having to go to the bathroom – was always at the back of the casino!! One thing to remember with a little one in tow! I can’t wait to read about your trip, we are debating a family trip to Vegas, and want to know what’s out there now – hoping you come up with lots of good suggestions!!

Thanks Nadine. I agree with the bathrooms. Luckily she will still be in diapers (she’ll be 27 months).

I think it is going to be a lot of fun. I’m researching some things to do now so EVERYONE in the family has a memorable trip.

I was last in Vegas in 2000, I bet it’s changed a lot and can’t wait to see what I find.

I’ve always wanted to travel to Vegas!! I look forward to reading more about your trip -it’ll give me some ideas if we decided to go there on a future vacation.

I’ve been a couple of times before, it’s so much fun. An adult playground. This is my first time as a mom though so I will be adding other trip experiences that I haven’t done before.

Thanks Lori, we are hoping to find a couple of tours that we can take her on during the day, and there’s always site seeing.

I’m looking forward to having a date night on the town one night with my husband.

Congrats to your sister! Are they having a weird themed marriage? Lol that’s all that I can think about in regards to getting married in Las Vegas, like with Elvis and everything!

I have never been there! But one day I hope to experience it at least once! I hope you have an amazing time there and get to see everything that you want too! Can’t wait to see pictures!

    • Sheri Jul 22, 2010, 11:13 am

Nothing weird that I know of, very casual, short and laid back. I think it’s more of a way to get everyone together in a nice vacation spot.

There will be lots of pictures. I get picture-happy when I’m on vacation!
